Durham, NC – February 11, 2013 – PurThreadTM Technologies is proud to announce the new name of its brand of high-performance athletic apparel and accessories: PurThread Sport. This change is part of a larger rebranding evolution for its consumer brand, Sabiya, to highlight the various applications of PurThread active surface textile technology. The move reflects a more precise focus on meeting the rising demands for high-performance fabrics in diverse industries including, athletics, home and hospitality, industrial and the military.

“Athletic apparel is just one of a number of industries generating demand for textiles with high-performance technology and PurThread is at the forefront of this growing trend,” said PurThread Chairman, President and CEO Richard “Dick” Bodman. “PurThread Sport is heading our transition into industry-specific brands. This new branding strategy will enable more direct relationships with purveyors and consumers in more industries.”

PurThread Sport is a high-performance fiber and yarn that uses proprietary integration technology and incorporates antimicrobial elements to inhibit the growth of destructive and odor-causing bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus on the fabrics that include it. This technology is bonded both in and on the fiber, so the effectiveness won’t fade or wash out during the life of the product.
